PROVISIONAL PROCEDURES

Southern hospitality on tap at NLR Junior League tea

The North Little Rock Junior League invited its six new provisional members over to Debbie Horton's house in the Indian Hills neighborhood Sept. 27 for a proper tea, Southern-style (a full lunch spread).

The league also has 35 active members and about 130 sustaining members.

"I loved my years in the league," said Karen Greenlee, who's a fairly active sustainer if not active member. "I wouldn't trade them for anything in the world."

This class of provisionals is, along with the league's ongoing literacy program, working separately on a year-long project in conjunction with Arkansas Foodbank.

Once they've complied with the requirements for admission, provisionals are voted into "active" status by the general membership. After six years as an active member, one becomes a sustainer, with all the privileges of membership without the compulsory monthly meetings.
