Hutchinson intends to pardon 5, restore firearm rights to 1

Gov. Asa Hutchinson said Monday that he intends to grant five pardons and one restoration of firearms rights.

His announcement also included the denial of 48 additional clemency requests and no action on three other requests.

The following individuals would receive pardons, if approved after a 30-day period of feedback and notice of requirements:

• Pernell Bobo Sr. of Scott for a 1992 conviction on two counts of delivery of a controlled substance;

• Patrick Fisher of England for 2002 and 2003 convictions on counts of property theft, criminal trespass and breaking or entering;

• Robert T. Hitt of White Hall for a 2004 conviction on a count of possession of a controlled substance;

• Linda Morrison Matkins of Rogers for a 1981 conviction on a charge of second-degree forgery; and

• John W. Wright of Little Rock for a 1989 conviction on one count of third-degree domestic battering.

Don D. McCarty of Bentonville, convicted in 1980 on a charge of first-degree criminal mischief, would be granted restoration of firearms rights only.
