MISSOURI

QB Mauk still out

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Freshman Drew Lock will make his second career start Saturday when Missouri hosts No. 11 Florida.

Starting QB Maty Mauk was suspended indefinitely last Tuesday for violation of team policies, along with backup offensive lineman Malik Cuellar, who was reinstated Monday. Coach Gary Pinkel said the timetable for Mauk’s return is unknown.

Lock made his debut start in a 24-10 victory against South Carolina last Saturday, becoming the first freshman to start at quarterback for the Tigers since Corby Jones in 1995.

He completed 21 of 28 passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns. The last Missouri quarterback to complete 75 percent of his passes with at least 20 completions was Blaine Gabbert in 2010 against Mc-Neese State.

Clayton Echard will start at tight end for Missouri after Sean Culkin was sprained his right knee in a 21-13 loss to Kentucky Sept. 26. Culkin is expected to miss at least one more week.

The Tigers (4-1, 1-1 SEC) plays Florida (5-0, 3-0) on Saturday.

AUBURN

Senior WR dismissed

AUBURN, Ala. — Auburn has dismissed senior wide receiver D’haquille Williams from the team.

Coach Gus Malzahn announced the decision Monday night, saying he gave Williams “the chance to prove himself.” But he added there must be consequences “when individuals fail to meet the expectations of our program.”

Malzahn didn’t elaborate.

Williams was having a disappointing season after coming in rated by NFL draft analysts as one of the nation’s top receiver prospects. He had 12 catches for 147 yards and 1 touchdown.

Williams returned for his senior season after the junior college transfer made 45 catches for 730 yards.

He was suspended for the Outback Bowl and again for nearly a week early in preseason camp.

Auburn opened the season ranked sixth nationally but has already lost twice.

MICHIGAN

Ojemudia out for year

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Michigan defensive end Mario Ojemudia’s collegiate career is over because of an Achilles tendon injury.

Ojemudia, a senior, was hurt during Saturday’s victory at Maryland.

Michigan Coach Jim Harbaugh he plans to put senior Royce Jenkins-Stone in Ojemudia’s spot during Saturday’s home game against No. 13 Northwestern.

The No. 18 Wolverines won 28-0 against the Terrapins without banged-up running back De’Veon Smith and cornerback Channing Stribling.

Smith was hurt in the previous victory over then-No. 22 BYU, appearing to injure his right ankle. Stribling’s ailment has not been disclosed.

BIG TEN

Officials admit mistake

ROSEMONT, Ill. — The Big Ten officials’ organization said a third-quarter officiating mistake cost Illinois a down in its 14-13 victory Saturday over Nebraska.

Collegiate Officiating Consortium Coordinator of Officials Bill Carollo said Monday that replay officials should have given Illinois another down when they reviewed a situation in which field officials lost track of the down and distance.

Instead, the play that Illinois thought was third down was judged to be fourth down.

Illinois had to turn over the ball at its 44.

Carollo said, “Errors of this nature have a significant impact on game assignments, bowl assignments and overall year-end status.”

Illinois defensive end Dawuane Smoot said Monday the mistake motivated the crowd and defense.
