County Judge Hyde to seek re-election

County Judge Barry Hyde announced Tuesday that he will seek re-election to the Pulaski County office next year.

The filing period for 2016 candidates will be from noon Nov. 2 until noon Nov. 9 this year. The party primary elections will be on March 1. Election Day is N̶o̶v̶.̶ ̶6 Nov. 8* next year.

No other candidate has announced a desire to seek the county judge's seat.

Hyde is in his first two-year term as county judge. He defeated former Republican state Rep. Phil Wyrick and Libertarian Glen Schwarz for the seat last November.

Hyde, a veteran, served in the Arkansas House of Representatives from January 2007 until January 2013. He ran Hydco Inc., which he founded in North Little Rock 28 years ago, until running for county judge last year. Hyde remains a majority owner of the company.
