Rogers student one of four winners of Sturgis grant

FAYETTEVILLE -- Four students in their first year at the University of Arkansas are Sturgis Fellows, recipients of $17,500 grants annually for four years of study.

• Alvarado Aldana Jr., a graduate of Rogers High School

• Reagan Broach, a graduate of Little Rock Christian Academy

• Dhruba Dasgupta, a graduate of Central High School in Little Rock

• Madison Lester, a graduate of Russellville High School

The Sturgis Fellows program was established in 1985 at UA and has an endowment of $10 million. It began through a gift from the Dallas-based Roy and Christine Sturgis Charitable and Educational Trust.

To take part in the program, students must pursue a major within UA's J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences. In addition to tuition, the grants cover educational expenses such as musical instruments and trips to academic conferences.
