Springdale felon suspect in girl's rape

SPRINGDALE -- A Springdale man serving time at a state prison for second-degree sexual assault was booked Monday into the Washington County Detention Center on suspicion of raping a girl about four years ago, according to a probable cause affidavit released Tuesday.

Angel Figueroa, 33, of 400 Crutcher St. in Springdale was arrested in connection with rape after he told his ex-girlfriend he had sex with her daughter several times, according to the affidavit.

The girl said Figueroa had sex with her when she was about 10 years old, according to the report.

Figueroa's jail house phone call to his ex-girlfriend March 12 was recorded, according to the report. He has been in prison since December 2014.

Figueroa is listed as eligible for parole June 25, 2017, according to the Arkansas Department of Correction website. He's also listed as an illegal immigrant.
