Trevor Pipkin was determined to lead Prescott to a 2-0 start in the 5-3A Conference.

He did that, completing 24 of 30 passes for 309 yards with 4 touchdowns and 1 interception in the Curley Wolves' 62-36 victory at Episcopal Collegiate last Friday.

FRIDAY’S STATISTICS Completed 24 of 30 passes for 309 yards with 4 touchdowns and 1 interception in Prescott’s 62-36 victory at Episcopal Collegiate. Also rushed for 78 yards on 14 carries.

Along the way the senior quarterback's efforts also helped him land this week's Arkansas Democrat-Gazette's Feat of the Week honor.

Pipkin threw touchdown passes of 43, 10, 62 and 4 yards and rushed for 78 yards on 14 carries to help Prescott pile up 631 yards of total offense.

It was a return to form for the Curley Wolves (3-2) and Pipkin, Coach Tommy Poole said.

"Pipkin had a good night throwing the ball," Poole said. "The receivers caught the ball. Those are the things we haven't done the past couple of weeks."

Pipkin got the Curley Wolves going on their first offensive possession. His 20-yard run to open the drive set up a 43-yard touchdown pass to senior Brandon Walker that gave Prescott a 6-0 lead.

Leading 20-14 with less than eight minutes remaining in the first half, Pipkin shook off a sack for a loss of 2 yards and connected with Walker for a 62-yard touchdown to make it 28-14. Pipkin threw 22 yards to Walker at the Wildcats 40, then Walker ran past two Episcopal defenders down the left sideline for the score.

The Curley Wolves turned to Pipkin again after the Wildcats cut the lead to 28-22 with 3:49 left in the second quarter.

Pipkin threw a 55-yard pass to sophomore Kadarius Pearson to set up first and goal at the Wildcats 4. That set up senior Maleric Butler's 1-yard touchdown run with 2:39 left to extend the lead to 36-22.

In the second half, Pipkin threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to junior Tyler Rucker on the Curley Wolves' first drive for a 42-22 lead.

Episcopal Collegiate Coach Richie Marsh has seen Pipkin play against the Wildcats since 2013 and was impressed again with the quarterback as well as the rest of the offense.

"They've got a lot of play-makers," Marsh said. "It was the type of game where we were playing up and down. They made a lot of plays."

Prescott scored on nine of its 12 possessions with Pipkin at quarterback. The Curley Wolves reached the end zone on five of their seven first-half possessions and scored on four of their five possessions with Pipkin in the second half, with the only miscue being his interception in third quarter.

Pipkin has completed 69.6 percent of his passes (126 of 181) for 1,588 yards with 14 touchdowns and 3 interceptions this season. He's passed for 5,043 yards and 60 touchdowns in his three-year career at the southwest Arkansas school.

Pipkin said he hopes Friday's victory can be a springboard to a second consecutive 5-3A Conference championship.

"We're just now lighting the fire," Pipkin said.
