FAYETTEVILLE -- A man accused of having sex with a 12-year-old Springdale girl pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Washington County Circuit Court.
Cristian E. Duran-Hernandez, 22, of 813 E. Huntsville Ave. in Springdale is charged with two counts of rape. He was given a Nov. 24 trial date.
Duran-Hernandez told police when he was arrested Sept. 11 he attempted to have sex twice with the girl, according to a report. Duran-Hernandez told police he performed sex acts with the girl, according to a police report.
Duran-Hernandez told police he thought the girl was 14 years old, according to the report.
The girl's mother suspected an inappropriate relationship between Duran-Hernandez and her daughter and called police.
Duran-Hernandez is being held at the Washington County Detention Center on a $35,000 bond and a hold from another agency.
Duran-Hernandez has "no ties to Springdale" and is a flight risk, according to the report.
