Rides, food, animals and tunes are highlights of the Arkansas State Fair and Livestock Show, Friday-Oct. 18 at the fairgrounds, 2600 Howard St., Little Rock. This year's music headliners include Eddie Money on Saturday, Styx on Tuesday and Grand Funk Railroad on Oct. 16. The carnival and vendor portions of the fair open at 11 a.m. daily, with earlier times for livestock events. Admission is $10, $5 for children 6-12 and for ages 60 and older. Parking is $5. 2 FESTIVAL

The King Biscuit Blues Festival turns 30 this year with three days of music and activities through Saturday over several blocks of downtown Helena-West Helena. Today's lineup on the Main Stage on Cherry Street includes Zac Harmon, the Kentucky Headhunters, the Cate Brothers and headliner Bobby Rush; on Friday, Charlotte Taylor & Gypsy Rain, Super Chikan, Reba Russell, Samantha Fish, Anson Funderburgh and the Paul Thorn Band and headliner Robert Randolph & the Family Band; and on Saturday, Larry McCray, Andy T & Nick Nixon, Ruthie Foster and headliner Taj Mahal. Pink will permeate the streets of Little Rock and North Little Rock during the 22nd annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on Saturday. The competitive run starts at 7:30 a.m. with the 5K Run/Walk at 8 and the 2K Family Fun Walk following at 8:20. Registration for the competitive run is $35 offline and $36 online. The opening weekend of the 24th annual Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival, Friday-Oct. 18, with screenings at the Arlington Resort Hotel & Spa, 239 Central Ave., Hot Springs, and party events at various Spa City venues. First up, at 7 p.m. Friday, will be the documentary The Primary Instinct with actor Stephen Tobolowsky (who will attend). On Saturday, former St. Louis Cardinal Lou Brock will appear at the 11 a.m. world premiere of Larry Foley's The First Boys of Spring (detailing Hot Springs' role in early baseball's spring training, pictured above) in Horner Hall, Hot Springs Convention Center, 134 Convention Blvd. Opening-night tickets, $30, include admission to pre-screening and post-screening receptions; First Boys of Spring tickets are $25 (which includes "ballpark" food and beverages). The Arkansas Chamber Singers will open their 2015-16 season with a pair of Little Rock concerts titled "Music of the Night," 7:30 p.m. Friday at St. Edward Catholic Church, 801 Sherman St., and 3 p.m. Sunday at St. James United Methodist Church, 321 Pleasant Valley Road. The program will include excerpts from Sergei Rachmaninoff's The All-Night Vigil and songs by Josef Rheinberger, Ola Gjeilo, Johannes Brahms, Morten Laurdisen, Eriks Esenvalds and Eric Whitacre. Fairfield Bay celebrates fall with two festivals in one weekend: OktoberFest and StoryFest. OktoberFest features German food, a biergarten, music, dancing and a Volkswagen "Show and Sign," 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday. On Saturday, Sean Buvala and Minton Sparks are the star guests for StoryFest, which includes activities for all ages, 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
