Inmate files suit after 1 of her twins dies after birth

WHITE HALL — An Arkansas inmate has filed a lawsuit against Arkansas Community Correction after one of her twins died after their birth.

KATV reported 34-year-old Christina Marziale went into the facility in White Hall about six weeks ago when she was seven months' pregnant. The lawsuit filed Wednesday in Pulaski County says she gave birth to her twins Sunday through emergency cesarean section.

The lawsuit says Marziale wasn't fed appropriately and didn't receive prenatal care under a physician's supervision. According to the lawsuit, the facility's warden did not appropriately act on Marziale's pregnancy, even after contacted by attorneys.

Arkansas Community Correction spokesman Dina Tyler said Marziale is imprisoned on drug charges. Tyler said they'll "have to wait and see" on what medical experts say about her pregnancy.
