Stamps man dies after motorcycle struck by oncoming vehicle

A Stamps man died Thursday morning after his motorcycle was struck by a vehicle that veered into oncoming traffic in Lafayette County, according to an Arkansas State Police report.

The driver of the vehicle, whose name was not released, was traveling north on County Road 27 about 10:25 a.m. Thursday in a 2007 Chevrolet when the driver crossed into southbound traffic, striking the driver of a 1999 Honda motorcycle, 25-year-old Charles Fredrick White.

White was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital about an hour later, authorities said.

According to state police, the driver of the vehicle was not injured.

Travel conditions at the time of the crash were described as clear and dry.

The death was the 387th in a traffic crash in Arkansas so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
