FORT SMITH SOUTHSIDE 35, ROGERS 13

FORT SMITH — Fort Smith Southside (3-3, 1-2) scored on its first three possessions and never looked back as it beat Rogers (1-4, 1-2) in a 7A-West Conference game at Jim Rowland Stadium.

Southside scored two touchdowns and rolled up 119 yards of offense in the game’s first 12 minutes en route to a 16-0 halftime lead. Southside took command when Rebels quarterback Cooper Johnson hit Randy Rainwater with a 49-yard touchdown pass less than two minutes into the second half for a 22-0 lead.

Johnson finished 13 of 19 for 207 yards and 3 touchdowns. He added 88 yards rushing and two more touchdowns. Randy Rainwater caught 5 passes for 116 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Southside held Rogers to 251 yards of total offense, 173 yards rushing and 78 yards passing.

FORT SMITH NORTHSIDE 29, ROGERS HERITAGE 3

ROGERS — Fort Smith Northside (2-4, 1-2) limited Rogers Heritage (0-6, 0-3) to one first down in the first half and rolled to a 7A-West Conference victory at Gates Stadium.

The Grizzlies’ defense scored one touchdown and set up another.

Northside took advantage of Heritage’s second fumble of the first half and scored on Hunter Pendleton’s 1-yard run with 8:34 left in the second quarter for a 6-0 lead. Northside senior linebacker Deontre Hardwick later scooped up his second fumble recovery and ran 2 yards for the touchdown midway through the third quarter for a 19-0 lead.
