LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Economic Development Commission is distributing more than $600,000 in fines collected to schools and conservation districts for wildlife education programs.
Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson joined state Game and Fish Commission officials Monday as they presented a check to the Arkansas Economic Development Commission for the Game and Fish Wildlife Conservation Education Grant Program.
The funds are available through fines assessed from violations of state laws protecting game, fish and other wildlife. Schools and conservation districts in all 75 counties are eligible to apply for the funds. Available funds directly correlate to the amount of fines collected in that county.
Eligible programs include the study of fish and wildlife conservation issues, the Arkansas National Archery in the School program and the Hooked on Fishing — Not on Drugs program.
