MARIANNA, Ark. — The Arkansas Department of Correction says a state prison inmate has died of an apparent hanging.
Department spokeswoman Cathy Frye says 37-year-old inmate Buddy Summers was found about 8:30 p.m. Saturday hanging by a bed sheet that was twisted around his neck. Frye says medical staff were unable to resuscitate Summers and that his death is believed to be a suicide.
Summers was serving a four-year sentence for a terroristic threatening conviction in Jackson County.
Frye says Arkansas State Police will investigate the death.
