Crashes on highways kill 2, leave 2 hurt, state police say

Arkansas State Police reported two people died in crashes on Arkansas roads Saturday.

A Camden man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. 79 south of Camden in Ouachita County early Saturday morning, state police reported.

Terelle Harris, 29, was driving a 2005 GMC Yukon south on U.S. 79 at 4:31 a.m. when he lost control while driving around a curve in the road. He then left the road, hit an embankment, overturned and was ejected from the vehicle, the report said. Harris died at the scene.

A two-vehicle crash in Scott County killed a Missouri woman and injured two others Saturday morning, according to a state police report.

At 9:22 a.m., a 2012 Dodge headed north on U.S. 71 entered the southbound lane to pass a vehicle and hit a 2004 Honda head-on, the report said. A passenger in the Honda, Jeanette Lawson, 59, of Windsor, Mo., was killed in the crash.

The driver of the Honda, Scott Lawson, 57, also of Windsor, Mo., and the driver of the Dodge, Sunni Sparks, 46, of Frisco, Texas, were both injured in the crash and taken to Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith.

At the time of both crashes, the roads were dry.
