Authorities are searching for an inmate on work release in Texarkana who escaped Monday morning, according to the Arkansas Department of Correction.

The department listed Jason Patterson, 37, on its online escapee list early Monday. Department spokesman Cathy Frye said Patterson was not at his job site when staff arrived at 6 a.m. to pick him up.

He had been at the Texarkana Regional Correction Center since June, Frye said, and he was working for M&M Milling at 2801 Washington St. in Texarkana.

Patterson is described as a white, 274-pound man who stands about 6 feet tall. He is serving 16 years for a theft of property conviction out of Benton County, Frye said.

Patterson's last known address is 600 Hardin Road in Little Rock, according to the department.

Anyone with information is asked to call authorities.
