Friday’s episode of ABC's 20/20 focusing on "re-homing" adoptive children will feature state Rep. Justin and Marsha Harris, a preview video clip shows.

Harris, R-West Fork, and his wife in 2013 adopted two girls, ages 5 and 3 at the time, and then re-homed them to Eric Cameron Francis, who later sexually abused the oldest child.

Elizabeth Vargas interviews the Harris family, the former foster parents of the two girls and a babysitter who cared for the two girls, according to an ABC news release.

Harris and his wife have said the girls had emotional and mental issues stemming from past abuse, which caused behavioral problems that made caring for them difficult.

The Harrises said they placed the children in Francis’ care after they were threatened with abandonment charges and the possibility of losing their own sons when they tried to return the girls to Department of Human Services because they were too difficult to raise.

The practice of re-homing came under scrutiny after Harris’ action became public. The re-homing of adopted children has since been criminalized in the state after the legislature in it’s previous session passed Act 1092 and Act 1018.

The episode airs Friday at 9 p.m. on ABC.
