Ricky Skaggs sets two concerts; Big Smo plays Sunday at Juanita's

Country and bluegrass musicians Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder will perform at 7:30 p.m. today and Friday at Woodlands Auditorium in Hot Springs Village. Tickets are $35.

Tremonti will perform, plus opening act Wilson, at 9 p.m. today at Juanita's.

Tremonti is the latest band of Mark Tremonti, formerly the guitarist in the bands Creed and Alter Bridge. His new heavy metal band, bearing his last name, also features bassist Wolfgang Van Halen, 24-year-old son of Eddie Van Halen. Admission is $20.

David Ryan Harris will perform at 7 p.m. Friday. Tickets are $12.

Harris, a singer-songwriter who plays folk, pop, rhythm and blues, soul, funk and alternative music, got his start in the 1980s in the band Follow for Now, and then played guitar for Dionne Farris before going solo, releasing four albums, the latest of which, Lightyears, came out in 2014. He has also played with Dave Matthews, Santana, John Mayer and Collective Soul.

Knox Hamilton, Canopy Climbers and Brothers & Company will play at 9 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 the day of the show.

Big Smo will perform at 8 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 the day of the show.

The Tennessee native mixes what has been termed rural rock or hick hop into a six-album career that has made him even more prominent since a reality TV show (using his name) on the A&E network began in 2014.

Leon Russell, a legendary Oklahoma-born singer-songwriter-pianist, will perform, after an opening set by local legend Lucious Spiller at 8:30 p.m. Friday, at the Rev Room. Admission is $25.

Russell, who released his first album in 1968 and has continued to write, record and perform ever since, is best known for his singles "Tight Rope," "Song for You" and "Lady Blue." He released his latest album Life Journey in 2014. On Sept. 11, he reunited with Rita Coolidge and other members of the 1970 Joe Cocker Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour in a tribute to the late Cocker.

Monsters of Todd 2 will start at 4 p.m. Saturday and will feature sets by Raising Grey, Mayday by Midnight, The Gettys, Daisy Chain, The Revolutioners, Third Degree, John Neal Rock N Roll, No Commercials, Rogue Rally, Crestview Drive, Jeremiah James Baker, Dustin Bentley and Angel Moore.

Tickets are $20, with all proceeds going to the family of Todd Mills and the American Cancer Society. Mills, who died at age 41 in 2013, was the Little Rock creator of the Doritos Locos Taco at Taco Bell.

The Men of Little Rock Against Domestic Violence Concert will feature sets by The On Call Band and Synrgy at 8 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $10 general, $15 for front row seating, $20 for "VIP" and $40 for tables.

Leo Bud Welch and guest Jimbo Mathus (who will open for and then play in Welch's band) will perform at 7:30 p.m. today at South on Main as part of the club's Archetypes & Troubadours series. Tickets are $20 or $15 for general admission.

Welch, an 82-year-old Mississippi bluesman, released his second album, I Don't Prefer No Blues, on March 24 on Big Legal Mess Records. He took the name of his album from remarks made by the preacher at his church when he learned the Bruce, Miss., resident was making a blues album.

Mathus, also a Mississippi musician, is well known for his shows in Arkansas and his past membership in the Squirrel Nut Zippers band. His latest album is Blue Healer.
