Tests to close lanes south of Hamburg

Pavement and soil testing on U.S. 425 and U.S. 82 south of Hamburg in Ashley County will require a series of lane closures for six days beginning Monday, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said.

Soil testing at the U.S. 425 bridge over West Creek about 4 miles north of the Louisiana state line will require alternate closures of the northbound and southbound lanes between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. from Monday to Wednesday, weather permitting.

Crews testing pavement between the junction of U.S. 82 and U.S. 425 south to the state line will require lane closures alternating between the northbound and southbound lanes between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday, weather permitting.

Soil testing at the bridge over Hanks Creek about 7 miles north of the state line will require alternating closures of the northbound and southbound lanes between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Thursday through Oct. 31, weather permitting.

The work will reduce traffic to one lane within the work zones, the department said. Traffic will be controlled using flaggers.

The testing is part of the proposed projects to widen U.S. 82 and U.S. 425 to five lanes between Hamburg and the Louisiana state line and is part of the department's $1.8 billion Connecting Arkansas Program. More information on this project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.
