2 killed in crashes on state roadways

Two people were killed in two crashes on Arkansas roads last week, according to Arkansas State Police reports released this week.

A motorcyclist from Jonesboro was killed Oct. 22 in a two-vehicle crash in Jonesboro in Craighead County, according to a state police report.

A 2013 Chevrolet was headed north on Industrial Drive at 4:45 p.m., did not yield at a stop sign and hit a motorcycle that was headed east on Parker Road, the report said. The driver of the motorcycle, Michael Barton, 35, was thrown from the bike and pronounced dead at Regional One Health in Memphis on Saturday.

The report said the driver of the Chevrolet, who is not listed in the report, was not injured.

At the time of the crash, the weather was clear and roads were dry.

Also on Oct. 22, a Caraway man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on CW Post Road in Craighead County, according to a state police report.

Brent Gynard, 24, was driving a 1997 Mitsubishi east on CW Post Road at 4:45 p.m. when the vehicle hit a guardrail and overturned. Gynard was thrown out and died at the scene.

At the time of the crash, rain was falling.
