Head-on crash kills driver in Madison County

A 56-year-old Oklahoma man was killed early Wednesday morning after his car was hit head-on along a state highway in Madison County, police said.

Kevin Cain, of Catoosa, was driving a 2007 Toyota west on Arkansas 12 east of Arkansas 45 at 5:23 a.m. when a 2012 Chrysler headed in the opposite direction hit a guard rail, lost control and swerved into the other lane. The Chrysler then hit the front of Cain's vehicle, according to an Arkansas State Police report.

The driver of the car that struck Cain was injured and taken to Northwest Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Weather conditions at the time of the crash were described as dry and clear in the police report.

According to preliminary police records, it was the 419th traffic fatality in Arkansas in 2015.
