A Walton heir was honored Friday with a nature preserve named after him and his wife.

The 410 acre site on Beaver Lake will be named after Rob and Melani Walton, longtime contributors to the Nature Conservancy, which bought and will manage the land.

Rob Walton is the oldest son of Sam Walton, founder of Wal-Mart.

The preserve protects wildlife and habitat in eastern Benton County.
