Wrecks kill 3 on state roads

Three people were killed Wednesday and Thursday in three separate crashes on Arkansas roads, the Arkansas State Police reported.

A two-vehicle crash on Arkansas 12 east of Arkansas 45 killed an Oklahoma man Wednesday morning in Madison County, a state police report said.

A 2012 Chrysler was headed east on Arkansas 12 when it hit the guardrail on the south side of the road at about 5:23 a.m. causing the driver to lose control and cross the double yellow line and hit the front of a 2007 Toyota, the report said.

The driver of the Toyota, Kevin Cain, 56, of Catoosa, Okla., was killed in the crash. The driver of the Chrysler, Kory Houser, 27, of Berryville was injured and taken to a hospital.

Also Wednesday, a Waldron man was killed and two others injured in a single-vehicle crash in Scott County.

A 1996 Chevrolet was headed north on U.S. 71 at Y City when the vehicle lost control in a curve in the road and hit the corner of an abandoned building, the report said.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Austin Hunt, 41, was killed. Two passengers in the car, Karen Jennings, 27, and William Shores, 28, both of Waldron were injured in the crash and taken to Mercy Hospital Waldron and CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs.

Early Thursday an Ozark man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Arkansas 309 south of Webb City in Franklin County, state police reported.

A 1994 Nissan was headed south on Arkansas 309 about 6:22 a.m. The Nissan approached a sharp left curve, went into a skid, left the road and overturned, the report said.

The driver of the Nissan, Timothy Walker, 52, was killed.

At the time of all three crashes, the weather was clear and roads were dry.
