Dave & Buster's applies for Little Rock building permit

Dave & Busters has applied for a permit to open a location in southwest Little Rock.

A spokesman for the city of Little Rock said the application calls for a 30,000-square-foot building at 10900 Bass Pro Parkway, which is near Interstates 30 and 430. That's the same area where Bass Pro opened in 2013 and where the Outlets of Little Rock will open next month.

The status of the permit wasn't immediately known. A message left with Dave & Buster's wasn't immediately returned late Tuesday morning.

Dave & Busters, which boasts more than 70 locations in the U.S. and Canada, combines elements of a full-service restaurant and sports bar with arcade and sports games.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported in March that Little Rock was expected to get a Dave & Busters and that the outlet mall area was a likely destination.

A bill passed during this year's legislative session increased the amount of money a coin-operated game could award in certain circumstances. The bill was seen as drawing a Dave & Buster's to Pulaski County.

The Dallas-based Dave & Busters has origins in Little Rock, where its two founders, Buster Corley and the late Dave Corriveau, operated bars next to one another in the late 1970s. Corley and Corriveau became friends, developed the Dave & Buster's concept and brought it to Dallas, where the first location opened in 1982.
