Man killed in six-vehicle pileup

A motorcyclist was killed and two other people were injured in a six-vehicle pileup on U.S. 71 in Rogers on Saturday, Arkansas State Police reported.

Donald Gene Lyons, 60, was driving a 1989 Ford van south on U.S. 71 at 9 p.m. when he rear-ended a 2008 BMW motorcycle, according to a preliminary report. The motorcycle was forced into the back of a 2014 Chevrolet.

Lyons' van also hit a 2000 Ford Explorer and a 2012 Toyota 4-Runner, both of which were traveling south, state police said. The collision caused the Explorer to hit a northbound 2002 Kia Sportage.

The motorcyclist, 42-year-old Matthew Allen Frank of Johnson, was killed. Lyons was injured. The driver of the Explorer, 45-year-old Stephen W. Strope of Rogers, was also injured.

The identities of those driving the 4-Runner, Chevrolet and Sportage were not provided in the report.
