Ethics Commission to investigate complaint against treasurer

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Ethics Commission has told Little Rock attorney and blogger Matt Campbell it will investigate portions of an ethics complaint he filed against Arkansas Treasurer Dennis Milligan last month.

Campbell asked the commission to look into 14 issues involving campaign finance, hiring practices, misuse of public resources and other allegations. Under state law, the commission cannot confirm or deny that it is conducting an investigation.

According to a signed letter dated Wednesday sent to Campbell, the commission agreed to investigate portions of 13 of the allegations.

A spokesman for Milligan's campaign said Thursday he is checking if Milligan received a letter from the commission.

Campbell previously filed an ethics complaint about campaign finance issues that eventually resulted in Lt. Gov. Mark Darr resigning in February 2014.
