HIGHLIGHTS
YARN — Brooklyn-based Americana quartet Yarn formed in 2007 and has earned accolades such as features on CMT and a Grammy nomination. The band claims inspiration from Gram Parsons, Jerry Garcia and “Exile on Main Street”-era Rolling Stones. The band’s tour is passing through Arkansas right now with a gig yesterday in Little Rock and tonight in Bentonville. The group performs as part of the First Friday celebration. BACKROAD ANTHEM — Country pop band Backroad Anthem continues its quest for radio domination with the release of a new EP. The album “Torn” will debut at a party tonight at George’s Majestic Lounge. Admission is $10, and the event starts at 10 p.m. The band also plays at 8 p.m. Thursday as part of the Party on the Patio series at Powerhouse Seafood and Grille in Fayetteville.
ROBY PANTALL — Jazz guitarist Roby Pantall has teamed up with bassist Ron Pennington and drummer Ken Everts to record a new album, the 12-track “Elysian Fields.” The album, recorded at Crisp Studios in Fayetteville, features several jazzy, bluesy cuts and a jazz-inspired take on songs by The Beatles and James Taylor, too. The trio releases “Elysian Fields” on Thursday at The Big Chill in Rogers. The concert starts at 7 p.m. Admission is free, and there will be raffle drawings for free CDs.
