LR police respond, SWAT called to false shooting report

Little Rock police responded to a call of a shooting on Seventh Street on Friday morning but determined at the scene that it was a false report, authorities said.

According to police, an unidentified man called about 7:25 a.m., saying that he had shot the mother of his children and had his two children tied up in a bathroom at 2610 W. Seventh St.

The caller said he thought about shooting one of the children, according to a report. He also advised police a bomb was "wired" to the door, the report said.

A SWAT team was called to the scene and officers blocked off the area, authorities said.

Police said the caller later told authorities that he was coming out of the residence.

A 38-year-old man walked outside of the residence at that point and was arrested. The man, later released pending an investigation, told police that he did not place the call.

Another man at the address was found asleep in a bed by police, according to the report. He told officers that he was not aware of the situation.

The SWAT request was canceled before arrival, the report said.

No one was injured, and an investigation is ongoing.
