VOLLEYBALL

UALR loses at Oklahoma

UALR suffered its fourth consecutive loss Thursday, losing 25-17-25-19, 25-21 to Oklahoma in the Oklahoma Invitational in Norman, Okla.

Carolee Dillards led the Trojans (0-4) with 10 kills and had three blocks. Marin Avram had nine kills and Edina Selimovic had six. Priscilla Almeida had a team-high 10 digs while Kelsey Leech and Sydnee Martin had five. Megan Mathis had 25 assists, 4 kills and 6 digs.

UALR meets Central Arkansas (1-2) at 5 p.m. today in the tournament.

CROSS COUNTRY

Arkansas women ranked ninth

Arkansas, which finished fifth in last season’s national championship, is ranked ninth in the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association preseason poll. Arkansas lost four seniors, but returns two-time All-American Dominique Scott along with Kaitlin Flattmann, Valerie Reina, Kelsey Schrader and Egan Ward. Arkansas participates in the UC Riverside Invitationals on Sept. 12.

Razorbacks earn 17th ranking by coaches

Arkansas enters this season ranked 17th in United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association preseason poll.

Arkansas, which finished 28th in last year’s NCAA Cross Country Championships, returns five all-region honorees in Austen Dalquist, Alex George, Gabe Gonzalez, Aidan Swain and Cale Wallace. In addition, two-time NJCAA cross country All-American Frankline Tonui joins the teams.

Arkansas will compete in the Iona Meet of Champions in New York on Sept. 19.

GOLF

Ex-Arkansas Tech golfer nominated for award

Former Arkansas Tech golfer Rebecka Surtevall has been recognized by the NCAA Woman of the Year selection committee as one of the top 30 honorees for the 2015 award.

Surtevall was a four-time Great American Conference Women’s Golfer of the Year. She was named a first team All-American and a second team Academic All-American and made her third appearance in the NCAA Division II golf championships

In late September, the selection committee will name nine finalists – three from each division. The 2015 winner will be announced Oct. 18 in Indianapolis.

SOCCER

Harding men tie Dallas Baptist

Harding’s Barry Foster took a long pass from Jackson Buchanan in the 55th minute then beat two defenders and score the tying goal in a 1-1 match with Dallas Baptist Thursday night in Searcy.

Brooks Friedman of Dallas Baptist had scored in the 30th minute for a 1-0 margin at the half.

Harding (0-0-1) hosts Oklahoma Christian at 1 p.m. Saturday.
