’Cats, Love run Cards into ground

CAMDEN -- Kawon Love rushed for 163 yards and three touchdowns as El Dorado unleashed a bruising ground game Friday in a 22-12 seasoning-opening victory at Camden Fairview.

Rushing accounted for 243 of El Dorado's 292 total yards. El Dorado completed 3 of 5 passes for 49 yards.

El Dorado trailed 6-0 at the half but took the second half kickoff and marched 62 yards in five plays. John Sixbey hit Gemetre Miller for 24 yards to start the drive. Love scored on a 12-yard run with 10:19 left in the third quarter. Kaleb Dull kicked the extra point for a 7-6 lead .

The Cardinals answered with a 65-yard drive in 10 plays. Camden Fairview converted a fourth-and-3 at midfield before quarterback Logan Reed connected with D.J. Franklin for a touchdown on a 20-yard wheel route. The two-point conversion pass failed, leaving the Cardinals with a 12-7 lead with 4:37 left in the third.

The Wildcats responded with a scoring drive of 58 yards. Love scored on an 11-yard run with 1:48 left in the third. El Dorado went for two with Sixbey finding Jacobe Singleton out of the backfield, giving the Wildcats a 15-12 advantage they would not relinquish.
