State investigator accidentally shoots self outside LR restaurant

An investigator with the Arkansas attorney general’s office accidentally shot himself in the back outside of a Little Rock restaurant Friday evening, police said Saturday.

An incident report from Little Rock police said Stephen Svetz, 58, was outside of South on Main, 1304 Main Street, at 5 p.m. trying to remove his gun from its holster and put it in his car when the gun went off and a bullet hit Svetz in the lower back. Svetz was transported to CHI St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock with a non-life threatening injury.

Judd Deere, communications director for the Attorney General Leslie Rutledge, said the attorney general’s office is investigating.
