Tigers get jump on Hogs

TEXARKANA -- Running back Jakardi Witcher totaled 298 all-purpose and scored three touchdowns to lead Texarkana (Texas) to a 28-14 victory over Arkansas High on Friday night at Razorback Stadium.

Witcher, who rushed 25 times for 200 yards, staked Texas High to 21-0 lead, the last of his touchdowns coming on a 98-yard return of the second-half kickoff.

Witcher scored on touchdown runs of 3 and 2 yards, and Markese Martin added an 82-yard run for the Tigers' final touchdown with 11:12 left in the game.

Arkansas made it 21-7 on Ladreliaun Taylor's 20-yard touchdown grab from backup Razorback quarterback Keaundre Banks to finish off a 10-play, 63-yard scoring drive.

Randall Green added a 1-yard run with 5:05 left to complete the scoring.

Texas High quarterback Cade Pearson was 6 of 16 passing for 83 yards and an interception.

Arkansas' Bailey Sprayberry completed 13 of 26 passing for 126 yards , and Kaviron Oliver rushed 17 times for 89 yards. Banks had 39 yards on six carries.

Arkansas High started in Texas territory on its first three possessions but couldn't capitalize.

Kushaiah Jones returned the opening kickoff 66 yards to the Texas High 30. Four plays later a fourth-down pass attempt fell incomplete.

Arkansas got the ball back on Nick McCann's strip-sack and recovery, setting up the Razorbacks at the 17. The Tigers defense held, and a 36-yard field goal attempt came up short.
