Two startups leaving

LR tech park space

Startup companies Apptegy and Elyxor are moving this month from their spots in the Little Rock Technology Park's temporary space, known as the LR Tech Park @ 107/The Venture Center, in the Block 2 building to other commercial space downtown.

LR Tech Park @ 107 was developed as a work space for early-stage, tech-focused startups and provides a professional co-working environment with programming, events and mentorship. The tech park's yet-to-be-built permanent home is nearby.

Apptegy designs smartphone applications for schools. The company has grown to nine employees, creating the need to move to dedicated office space in Simmons Tower, the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce said in a release Wednesday. Elyxor develops business applications and software components for the technology, retail, e-commerce, education, financial services and manufacturing industries. It is leasing space in the Pyramid Place building on Second Street.

Reflecting sell-off, Arkansas Index falls

The Arkansas Index, a price-weighted index that tracks the largest public companies based in the state, fell 3.62 to 324.64 Wednesday.

"U.S. stocks sold off in afternoon trading, continuing the extreme volatility after it was revealed that job openings for July rose to a new record, sparking heightened expectations of a September rate hike" by the Federal Reserve, said John Blackwell, senior vice president and managing director of equity trading at Stephens Inc. in Little Rock. "The Arkansas Index moved lower as 13 stocks declined and five advanced."

Total volume of the index was 19.2 million shares.

The index was developed by Bloomberg News and the Democrat-Gazette with a base value of 100 as of Dec. 30, 1997.
