1 SHAKESPEARE

The Arkansas Repertory Theatre stage is the scene for treachery and murderous mayhem as the 2015-16 season begins with William Shakespeare's Macbeth. The final preview performance starts at 7 p.m. today with a pre-show director talk at 6:15 p.m. Opening night with a post-show champagne reception is Friday and the production continues through Sept. 27. Show times are 7 p.m. Wednesday-Thursday and Sunday, 8 p.m. Friday-Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $35-$45, $20 for students and this Sunday is "Pay Your Age" Night for those 40 and under. 2 STADIUM

The Arkansas Razorbacks play at Little Rock's War Memorial Stadium for the only time this season at 3 p.m. Saturday. They'll take on the Toledo Rockets and lots of tailgating and Hog calling can be expected. Tickets are $55. Call (800) 982-4647 or visit arkansasrazorbacks.com.

3 SIDEWALKS

The sidewalks around the Clinton Presidential Center, 1200 President Clinton Ave., Little Rock, will become a riot of chalky, creative color as the Thea Foundation presents the 10th annual Thea Paves the Way, 8 a.m.-noon Saturday. The event includes face painting and ice cream sales and while sidewalk chalk will be provided; groups are encouraged to bring some extras. Registration is free. 4 SUNSET

The Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau and TV station KARK-TV are partnering to screen the PG-13 movie Guardians of the Galaxy as part of a special Movies in the Park on Friday -- sunset is officially at 7:22 p.m., so the movie should start by 7:45 -- in the First Security Amphitheater in Riverfront Park, behind the River Market's Ottenheimer Market Hall, 400 President Clinton Ave., Little Rock. The "Razorback Nation River Market Takeover" event is timed to attract football fans in town for Saturday's Arkansas-Toledo game. Admission is free; standard Movies in the Park rules apply -- families, picnics and coolers, yes, but no glass, please; an adult guardian must accompany attendees under 18. Uniformed security will be onsite for safety but no vendors -- the River Market folks are hoping you'll eat and drink at one or more River Market establishments before and/or after. 5 SUSTAINABLE

Arkansans can celebrate "sustainable and cruelty-free living" at the Urban Raw Festival, a gathering of various artisans, performers and experts, 3-9 p.m. Saturday at Dunbar Community Garden, 1801 S. 6 SHINE

Literacy Action of Central Arkansas will celebrate literacy with libations, heavy hors d'oeuvres, music, a wine pull and an auction as part of its seventh annual Shine a Light on Literacy benefit, 6-9 p.m. today at the Albert Pike Masonic Center, 712 Scott St., Little Rock. 7 "SOCIAL CALL"

Grammy-winning jazz singer Dianne Reeves and backing musicians Peter Martin, piano; Romero Lubambo, guitar; Reginald Veal, bass; and Terreon Gully, drums, will help the Friends of Mosaic Templars Cultural Center celebrate its sixth anniversary, and the museum's seventh, at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the center, 501 W. Ninth St., Little Rock. Also this weekend at the center: "Family Fun Saturday," noon Saturday, with magician Tommy Terrific presenting "Black Cowboys of the Old West." Admission and popcorn are free. 8 SPUTTERING

Things that roar and rumble will make the Plantation Agriculture Museum, U.S. 165 and Arkansas 161 in Scott, a fun, noisy place to be during the annual Antique Tractor and Engine Show, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. 9 SOPRANOS

Opera in the Rock will offer "An Evening of One-Acts," including fully staged performances, in English, of Gian Carlo Menotti's The Telephone and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's The Impresario, 7:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday at the Argenta Community Theater, 405 Main St., North Little Rock.
