VOLLEYBALL

UALR splits in Memphis

UALR bounced back from a loss to Auburn at the Memphis Invitational Friday and came away with a 25-19, 25-20, 25-15 victory over Tennessee on Friday night.

Edina Selmovic had 14 kills for the Trojans. Megan Mathis had 40 assists with six kills. Priscilia Almeida had 12 digs while Sydnee Martin and Kelsey Leach had 10 and 8.

UALR lost 25-22, 12-25, 27-15, 25-16 to Auburn earlier in the day.

Carolee Dillard led the Trojans with 16 kills and five blocks.

Selmovic had 11 kills and five blocks. Mathis had 34 assists, 8 digs, 4 kills and 3 blocks. Almeida had 19 digs while Leach and Martin had 11 and 10.

UALR meets at UAPB at 2 p.m. today and Memphis at 7 p.m.

Golden Suns go 1-1 at home

Arkansas Tech defeated Midwestern State 25-16, 25-22, 19-25, 25-15 and lost 25-22, 25-15, 25-22 to Newman at the Arkansas Tech Tournament Friday in Russellville.

Hunter Eshnaur had 15 kills with 11 digs and 3 blocks in the victory. Sophomore McCall Wilkins had 10 kills and five blocks while sophomore Alyssa Kool and Sarita Stegall each had 24 assists.

Arkansas Tech (3-3) was led by Eshnaur, who had 13 kills and 10 digs, in the loss to Newman. Kaylee Konsella had nine kills. Katie Huff and Haley Owen combined for 12 kills.

Arkansas Tech faces Missouri Southern at 11 a.m. before playing Ouachita Baptist at 5 p.m.

Harding loses two in Missouri

Harding lost 25-20, 21-25, 25-20, 21-25, 15-10 to Arkansas-Fort Smith and 25-18, 25-21, 18-25, 25-14 to Lindenwood on the first day of the Lindenwood Tournament in St. Charles, Mo.

Harding (1-5) was led by Molly Howard, who had 16 kills against Arkansas-Fort Smith, which was led by Knnedi Coleman, who had 21 kills. Arkansas-Fort Smith is 3-3.

Zoe Hardin led Harding with 10 kills and five blocks agaisnt Lindenwood.

Columbia College sweeps Lyon

Lyon College lost 25-11, 25-17, 25-16 Friday night to Columbia College in Columbia, Mo.

Lyon (4-5) was led by Emily Sprick, who had six kills.

SOCCER

Arkansas State loses to Idaho

Arkansas State ‘s women lost 2-0 to Idaho at the Mike Soccer Complex in Memphis.

Idaho’s Alyssa Lloyd scored with Clara Gomez and Madison Moore assisting in the 16th minute. Olivia Baggerty scored in the 24th minute.

Idaho had 19 shots on goal to Arkansas State’s nine. Kelsey Ponder and Alexis Phillips combined to make nine saves for the Red Wolves.

Union men defeat Harding

Union received goals from Andre Silva on a free kick outside the box and Paul Langford in the second half to lead Union to a 2-0 victory over Harding in Jackson, Tenn.

CROSS COUNTRY

UALR wins in Magnolia

Josh Vodacek and Noora Walleius won individual titles and UALR’s men won the Lois Davis Invitational in Magnolia Friday night.

Vodacek won the 8,000-meter course in 25 minutes, 32 seconds. Walleius won the 5,000-meter race in 18:07.

UALR’s men finished with 33 points, beating Southern Arkansas by 14 points. UALR’s women finished third with 60 points, 11 behind Texas A&M-Commerce.

TRACK AND FIELD

UA women announce schedule

Arkansas’ women will host eight meets at the Randal Tyson Track Center and John McDonnell Field during the 2016 season, including the SEC Indoor Championships.

Arkansas opens its season on Jan. 15 hosting the Arkansas Invitational.

The SEC Indoor meet will be held Feb. 26-27.The NCAA indoor meet will be held March 11-12 in Birmingham, Ala.

The outdoor season starts March 26 with the Arkansas Spring Invitational before the Texas Relays and Stanford Invitational April 1-2.

Arkansas hosts the John McDonnell Invitational April 22-23, heads to the LSU Invitational April 29-30, the Payton Jordan Invitational April 30 and Arkansas Twilight May 6.

Arkansas hosts the SEC Outdoor Championships May 12-14. The NCAA west preliminary will be held May 26-28 and the national championships will be held June 8-11 in Eugene, Ore.
