LITTLE ROCK - What was expected to be No. 18 Arkansas' second tune-up of the nonconference season turned into one of college football's biggest upsets of the season Saturday.

Toledo, a 21-point underdog, beat the Razorbacks 16-12 at War Memorial Stadium. The win was the first for the Rockets over a Southeastern Conference program.

Arkansas lost a shocker on the same field where as a No. 8 ranked team it lost to 30.5-point underdog ULM three years ago this week. The Razorbacks have lost five straight games to FBS opponents in Little Rock.

Toledo held Arkansas out of the end zone twice in the fourth quarter when the Razorbacks had a first-and-goal inside the 5-yard line. Arkansas had a 21-play drive end in a field goal early in the fourth quarter and turned the ball over on downs with 1:55 remaining.

The Rockets took an intentional safety with 52 seconds left. Arkansas advanced to the Toledo 16 on its final drive, but Brandon Allen missed on two passes to the end zone in the final 6 seconds.

Toledo (1-0) got the win in its first official game of the season. The Rockets outscored Stony Brook 16-7 last week in a game that ended at halftime because of inclement weather.

Toledo led 9-7 at halftime after Jameson Vest's 38-yard field goal late in the second quarter. Toledo extended its lead to 16-7 on Damion Jones-Moore's 11-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

The Rockets led 6-0 when Phillip Ely threw a 5-yard touchdown to Corey Jones in the first quarter. Arkansas took its only lead on a 21-yard touchdown run by Alex Collins early in the second quarter.

Allen completed 32 of 53 passes for a career-high 412 yards. Allen didn't throw a touchdown pass and was intercepted in the third quarter after Arkansas reached the Toledo 7.

The Razorbacks struggled in the run game, finishing with 103 yards on 31 carries. Collins rushed 20 times for 54 yards.

Arkansas (1-1) twice committed a turnover on downs inside Toledo territory. In three trips inside the Rockets' 10, Arkansas came away with only three points.

The Razorbacks are scheduled to play Texas Tech (2-0) next Saturday in Fayetteville.
