Four educators were named 2016 Arkansas Teacher of the Year finalists at a Thursday event with Gov. Asa Hutchinson and state Department of Education Commissioner Johnny Key.
The four finalists include:
- Meghan Ables, an 11th-grade English/literacy teacher at Stuttgart High School
- Brenda Galliher, an eighth-grade science teacher at Nashville Junior High School
- Stephanie Goodman, a sixth-grade mathematics teacher at Hot Springs Intermediate School
- Michael Rogers, a ninth-12th grade agriculture teacher at Siloam Springs High School.
The finalists were selected from 15 regional finalists, who each received $1,000. A selection committee will visit the four finalists at their schools, and the Arkansas Teacher of the Year will be recognized with a $14,000 award during a surprise event this fall.
