Senior’s Day at the Fair

SEARCY — The White County Fair will have a Senior’s Day at the Fair from 9 a.m. to noon at the White County Fairgrounds Pavilion. Golf Tournament

HEBER SPRINGS — The Rotary Club of Heber Springs will host a four-person scramble golf tournament at the Red Apple Inn and Country Club. Play will begin with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. There will be three flights with prizes in each flight. There will also be closest-to-the-pin and hole-in-one prizes. Proceeds for the tournament will fund scholarships for Heber Springs High School students entering college. Opening Night Reception

SEARCY — Center on the Square, 219 W. Arch Ave., will hold an opening-night reception at 6:15 p.m. Friday for its production of Everybody Loves Opal, by John Patrick. Beatles Symposium

WALNUT RIDGE — The Beatles Symposium will kick off the Beatles at the Ridge music festival Friday and Saturday in downtown Walnut Ridge. Both events are free. Beatles experts Richard Buskin and Robert Rodriguez will perform their podcast “Things We Said Today.” Bob Loveall will bring Beatles wares from his Beatles Shop in Austin, Texas. Ivor Davis, who traveled with the Beatles on their North American tour in 1964, and filmmaker Seth Swirsky, who made the movie Beatles Stories, will also speak. The Beatles Symposium will begin with displays at noon Friday in The Studio, which is on Main Street. The Argenta Collection of more than 200 large-format photos will be on display all day Friday and Saturday in The Studio. Center on the Square Auditions

SEARCY — Auditions for Center on the Square’s fall production, The Haunting of Transylvania, written and directed by Robbie Ballew, are scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m. The audition will be a cold read, so there is no need to prepare anything. Adults and teenagers are needed. The production dates are Oct. 23, 24, 29, 30 and 31.

Times-N-Traditional Festival

NEWARK — The 21st annual Times-N-Traditional Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. at Newark City Park. The event starts with a parade at 10 a.m. Then bands play throughout the day until the fireworks display at 10:30 p.m. The cost of admission is a $6 donation, with free admission for children under 4. Geocache Scavenger Hunt

POCAHONTAS — Davidsonville Historic State Park will host a geocache scavenger hunt from 10 a.m. to noon in the park. Participants will be provided a clue to find the first coordinates, and each set of coordinates will lead to the next set. Participants may sign up in teams of two or singly and need to bring a GPS. Family History Workshop

POWHATAN — The Arkansas History Commission and the Northeast Arkansas Regional Archives will host a workshop from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Powhatan Courthouse. The workshop, titled Saving the Tree: Preserving Family History, will include three hands-on sessions focused on the organization and preservation of family documents. NEWPORT — Arkansas State University-Newport and AARP are joining forces again to present a driver safety course on the ASUN-Newport campus. FLORAL — The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville Adult Education Department is partnering with Midland Elementary School to offer classes from 3-5 p.m. Mondays in the computer lab on the elementary campus in Floral. Instruction in reading, math, writing and computer literacy skills will be available, designed for adults who want to obtain a high school diploma, prepare for the Compass test to enroll in college, acquire a Career Readiness Certificate or learn to use a computer. BEEBE — The Arkansas State University-Beebe Art Department will display the artwork of Nancy Dunaway through Sept. 28 in the England Center Art Gallery at ASU-Beebe.
