What's to love: A digital video recorder for folks who don't have cable or satellite, but get their television shows over the air using HDTV antennas.
What does it do: The small unit, when connected to an HDTV antenna and a USB hard drive, allows the user with a free app to enjoy shows on a tablet or computer and record or watch up to two shows at the same time. Depending on the quality of the Wi-Fi network, shows can be streamed on up to six devices at the same time. It can be placed anywhere in the home for best HDTV reception. The Tablo sells for $219.99 and comes with a free 30-day data guide subscription, which offers episode and series synopses. It sells for $4.99 a month, but is not a requirement for using the Tablo.
