With the filing period several weeks from now, the contested races for federal and state legislative seats so far include:

U.S. Senate: Republican incumbent John Boozman of Rogers; Fayetteville Democrat Conner Eldridge, the former U.S. attorney for the Western District of Arkansas.

2nd Congressional District: Republican incumbent French Hill of Little Rock; Little Rock Democrat Dianne Curry, a former Little Rock School Board member.

State Senate District 7: Republican incumbent Jon Woods of Springdale; Republican Washington County Justice of the Peace Sharon Lloyd of Springdale.

State Senate District 22: Democratic incumbent David Burnett of Osceola; Republican Rep. David Wallace of Leachville.

State Senate District 27: Democratic incumbent Bobby Pierce of Sheridan; U.S. Sen. Tom Cotton aide Trent Garner of El Dorado, a Republican.

State Senate District 29: Republican incumbent Eddie Joe Williams of Cabot; Republican Lonoke County Justice of the Peace R.D. Hopper.

State Senate District 34: Republican incumbent Jane English of North Little Rock; North Little Rock Democrat Joseph Woodson Jr. Also, state Rep. Donnie Copeland, R-North Little Rock, said he’s considering all his options, including running for this seat.

House District 3: Democratic incumbent Brent Talley of Mc-Caskill; Hempstead County Justice of the Peace Danny Watson of Hope, a former Democrat who is running as a Republican.

House District 14: Democratic incumbent Camille Bennett of Lonoke; Lonoke County Justice of the Peace Roger Lynch of Lonoke, a former Democrat running as a Republican.

House District 27: Former Rep. Andy Mayberry, R-East End; Hensley Democrat Melissa Fults. (Rep. Julie Mayberry, R-East End, isn’t seeking re-election).

House District 54: Former Rep. Wes Wagner of Manila; Poinsett County Assessor Johnny Rye Jr. of Trumann. Both are former Democrats running as Republicans. (Rep. Wallace is running for the state Senate.)

House District 57: Paragould Republicans Shawn D. Strouss and Ronnie Spence. (Rep. Mary Broadaway, D-Paragould, isn’t seeking re-election.)

House District 58: Republican incumbent Brandt Smith of Jonesboro; Jonesboro Democrat Nate Looney.

House District 60: Democratic incumbent James Ratliff of Imboden; Walnut Ridge Republican Frances Cavenaugh. Republicans Lawrence County Justice of the Peace Lloyd Clark and Blaine Davis of Hoxie said they’re both considering running for this seat.

House District 61: Democratic incumbent Scott Baltz of Pocahontas; Cherokee Village Republican Doug Driesel.

House District 81: Republicans Derek Goodlin of Rudy and Bruce Coleman of Mountainburg (Rep. Justin Harris, R-West Fork, isn’t seeking re-election).

In addition, Dardanelle Democrat Lesa Wolfe Cromwell said she is considering challenging Republican incumbent Mary Bentley of Perryville in House District 73.

North Little Rock Republican Carlton Wing said he’s running for the House District 38 seat, held by Rep. Copeland. North Little Rock Democrat Kent Walker said he’s considering running for this House seat.

There are several seats in which the incumbents aren’t seeking re-election or where only one candidate has announced intentions to enter a particular race.

Those districts and candidates include:

Senate District 32: Little Rock Democrat Will Bond, a former state representative. (Sen. David Johnson, D-Little Rock, is running for district judge instead).

House District 1: Texarkana Republican Carol Dalby. (Rep. Prissy Hickerson, R-Texarkana, isn’t seeking re-election).

House District 7: Former Rep. Garry Smith, D-Camden. (Rep. John Baine, D-El Dorado, isn’t seeking re-election).

House District 20: Mena Republican John Maddox. (Rep. Nate Bell, an independent from Mena, isn’t seeking re-election).

House District 89: Springdale Republican Jeff Williams. (Rep. Micah Neal, R-Springdale, is running for county judge in Washington County instead.)
