LITTLE ROCK — A central Arkansas lawyer whose relationship with former Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel led him to withdraw from the race for governor has filed a petition to voluntarily surrender her law license.
Andrea Davis filed the petition with the Arkansas Supreme Court on Monday. Davis wrote in the petition that her license has been suspended since February 2014, and she is hoping the surrender will void five pending grievances against her at the Office of Professional Conduct.
Prosecutors dropped a manslaughter charge against Davis in May in the 2012 fatal shooting of 34-year-old Maxwell Anderson that authorities described as a drug deal gone wrong in exchange for her pleading guilty to unlawful use of a communication device.
Davis' relationship with McDaniel became public in her ex-husband's divorce filings.
