In a news release, state police said Traishaad Thompson, 20, was arrested Tuesday shortly before noon in southwest Little Rock. Thompson had been the subject of a statewide search since Friday and was wanted in connection with the theft of the four decommissioned state police vehicles.

The fourth vehicle was found parked near South University Avenue and Forbing Road in Little Rock after it was spotted by state police helicopter pilots.

Authorities learned of the theft Sept. 16 and had already found three of the four vehicles. Three of the cars were found a short distance from where Thompson was arrested, and the fourth was found in Huttig in Union County, where Thompson had recently lived, the release said.

The vehicles were stolen from a locked, fenced area of the state police administrative headquarters at Interstate 30 and Geyer Springs Road. The release said the vehicles were going to be transferred to the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration's Marketing and Redistribution division warehouse, and all of the state police markings and equipment had been taken out of the cars for the planned transfer.
