Chancellor ends holdout

After nearly eight weeks of being absent and losing out on potentially more than $2 million, Kam Chancellor returned to the Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday. The menacing presence of No. 31 could be back on the field for Seattle as early as Sunday. "I just feel like the time is now. I've always been a guy who follows my heart. Just watching my teammates and my team play, week to week, that first and second game, watching those losses hurt me, being the leader that I am," Chancellor said. "So I think the time is now to come back, put all business to the side and address that after the season, just get back to work." Chancellor reported to the team's facility early Wednesday morning, ending a holdout that started when he missed the first day of training camp on July 31 and lingered through the 0-2 start to the regular season for the Seahawks, who lost to St. Louis and Green Bay. Seattle will have a two-week roster exemption for Chancellor, but he must be added to the active 53-man roster at least 24 hours prior to kickoff to play either this Sunday against Chicago or Monday, Oct. 5, against Detroit.

• Revis Island was closed Wednesday. The New York Jets are hoping their star cornerback is back in business by Sunday. Darrelle Revis sat out practice with a groin injury, and his status for the team's game against the Philadelphia Eagles is uncertain. Coach Todd Bowles did not mention Revis' injury at his news conference after practice Wednesday, and was not asked about the cornerback by reporters. Revis' status was not known publicly until the team released its injury report after locker room availability.

• Minnesota Vikings left guard Brandon Fusco has a concussion, yet another injury issue for a banged-up offensive line. Fusco was held out of practice Wednesday. Vikings Coach Mike Zimmer has not commented on Fusco's condition. Fusco was not on the injury report last week.

• The Arizona Cardinals re-signed running back Kerwynn Williams to the practice squad Wednesday, a day after he was released from the practice squad. Williams was elevated from the practice squad to the active roster last week, and had one carry for 3 yards Sunday in Arizona's 48-23 victory at Chicago.

• The Buffalo Bills have promoted safety Jonathan Meeks from the practice squad to their active roster. Meeks fills the spot left open after the Bills traded quarterback Matt Cassel to the Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday. He will also provide depth at safety with starter Aaron Williams' status uncertain after he hurt his neck in a 40-32 loss to the New England Patriots last weekend.

• Cleveland Browns suspended offensive line coach Andy Moeller will not be charged for an alleged assault after a woman said he tried to strangle her. City prosecutor Jim Walters said in a statement Wednesday that he could not find proof "beyond a reasonable doubt" that Moeller had assaulted the woman, who identified herself on a 9-1-1 call as his fiancée and said he had been violent before. Moeller was suspended by the Browns on Sept. 7, two days following the incident at his home. The team said Moeller's suspension "remains indefinite."

• New York Giants cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is going to miss tonight's game against the Washington Redskins with a concussion. The Giants also announced on Wednesday that first-round draft pick Ereck Flowers is doubtful for the NFC East game with an ankle injury. Also out for New York are receiver Victor Cruz, tight end Jerome Cunningham, defensive tackle Markus Kuhn and defensive end Owa Odighizuwa. Defensive end Robert Ayers is questionable. Middle linebacker Jon Beason is probable to play for the first time this season.

Bowyer penalized by NASCAR

Clint Bowyer's slim shot at winning the Sprint Cup championship in Michael Waltrip Racing's final season took a huge hit Wednesday when NASCAR penalized the team for an infraction in the opening playoff race. NASCAR said the No. 15 team had parts not properly installed on its Toyota during the opening inspection Friday at Chicagoland Speedway. Bowyer was docked 25 points, dropping him to last in the 16-driver Chase for the Sprint Cup championship field. Crew chief Billy Scott was fined $75,000 and suspended for the next three races, and placed on probation for six months. There are two races remaining in the opening round of the Chase before four drivers will be cut from the 16-driver field. MWR immediately appealed, and NASCAR has asked the appeals officer to expedite the process. The team said in a statement it "respectfully disagrees" with the penalties.

T-Wolves buy out Bennett's contract

Anthony Bennett is on the move again. A person with knowledge of the situation tells The Associated Press that the Minnesota Timberwolves have reached agreement on terms on a $3.65 million buyout with the former No. 1 overall pick. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the buyout has not been announced. If Bennett clears waivers, he will become a free agent. Bennett was the top pick of the 2013 draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers. He was traded to Minnesota in the Kevin Love deal last summer, but struggled in his lone season there with injuries.

Kevin Durant is all the way back. The 2013-14 NBA MVP and scoring champion played just 27 games for the Thunder last season because of a broken bone in his right foot. Thunder General Manager Sam Presti announced Wednesday that, after three procedures, Durant is ready to go. Training camp begins next week. "He's been playing without restriction, five on five, competing as normal," Presti said. Durant had surgery in October and returned to play in December with some pain. A screw rubbing against another bone was removed this February. After more pain, Durant consulted with three foot and ankle specialists and had a bone graft in March.

Tsonga advances at Metz
