UALR fourth, ASU seventh in Florida

UALR and Arkansas State’s men’s are fourth and seventh after two rounds at the Sun Belt Conference Preview at Raven Golf Club in Sandestin, Fla. The Trojans (289-276) shot a 565 and are eight shots back of Troy’s 557 (287-270). The Red Wolves shot a 572 (294-278) through the first two rounds. Arkansas State’s Joel Wendin (72-67) and UALR’s George Trujilo (71-68) are tied for sixth with a 139.

ASU men win Rhodes Invitational

Wil Norris finished an 8,000-meter course in 26 minutes, 37.20 seconds, helping Arkansas State win the Rhodes Invitational at Memphis, finishing with 78 points, 12 points ahead of second-place Rhodes.

Rickus Jacobs was second in 25:37.70m while Zach Rail and Zach Van Gundy finished 21st and 22nd in 26:44.10 and 26:44.40.

Austin Salazar of Central Arkansas was sixth in 26:16.70. As a team, the Bears finished sixth with 153 points. Andrew Simpson was 24th in 26:48.60.

UAPB was 21st with 649 points, while Ozarks was 23rd with 694 and Philander Smith was 25th with 767 points. Andrew Bingham was UAPB’s top runner, finishing 137th in 30:36.00, Stephen Babb led Ozarks by finishing 162nd in 31:38.80 and John Williams was Philander Smith’s top runner, finishing 186th in 38:19.60.

In the women’s event, Arkansas State finished fourth with 116 points. Memphis won the team title with 75 points.

Abbey Dixon led the Red Wolves by finishing fourth in 21:30.65 on the 6,000-meter course. Arnica Zitting was sixth in 21:52.27 and Lindsey Mills finished 19th in 23:26.16.

Williams Baptist was 10th with 306 points, Central Arkansas was 12th with 353 points, Ozarks was 17th with 507 points and UAPB was 20th with 609 points.

Betsay Minkler led Williams Baptist by finishing 27th in 23:47.28, Layne Sargeson led Central Arkansas by finishing 32nd in 24:03.76, Caitlyn Bell led Ozarks in 25:25.46, Sharoya Simmons led UAPB by finishing 122nd in 27:22.18.

Harding men win Gulf Coast Stampede

Harding won the Gulf Coast Stampede in Pensacola, Fla., with 22 points, finishing 17 points ahead of West Florida.

Camden Barrett won the individual title for the Bisons, running the 8,000-meter course in 25 minutes, 57.20 seconds. Lucas Goodspeed was second in 26:14.50, Miloz Golik fifth in 26:43.80, Russell Chase sixth in 26:52.30, Josiah Baker seventh in 26:57.70, Mesa Alison eighth in 27:08.30 and Larry Lopez ninth in 27:13.40.

ASU sweeps Troy

Arkansas State swept Troy 25-16, 25-22, 25-17 on Saturday in Jonesboro.

The Red Wolves (13-1 4-0 Sun Belt Conference) were led by Drew Jones, who finished with 10 kills.

UCA sweeps Incarnate Word

Central Arkansas defeated Incarnate Word 25-20, 25-20, 25-23 on Saturday in Conway.

Heather Schnars led the Sugar Bears (6-9, 2-1 Southland Conference) with 19 kills.

Lyon, Hannibal-LaGrange play to tie

Lyon and Hannibal-LaGrange men played to 0-0 tie Saturday at J. Marshall Huser Field in Batesville.

Lyon (7-0-1, 2-0-1 American Midwest Conference) finished with nine shots on goal. Logan Miller made six saves for the Scots. Jorge Bravo Gonzalez made nine shots for Hannibal.

In the women’s game, Lyon (5-4, 2-1) shut out Hannibal-La-Grange 4-0 Saturday. Jessica Souza led Lyon with two goals while Isabel Suarez and Kristi Lantrip each scored once. Lyon had 29 shots.

Williams Baptist men fall to Park

Williams Baptist lost 4-1 to Park University on Saturday at Walnut Ridge.

Mathews Alonso had Williams Baptist’s goal in the seventh minute. Park had goals from Mario Erpel, Lucas Souza, Gabriel Alvs and Mirko Sandivari.

Park (4-0-2, 2-0-1 American Midwest Conference) had 15 shots to 7 for Williams Baptist (4-3, 1-2 AMC).

Ozarks women defeat Sul Ross State

University of the Ozarks defeated Sul Ross State 1-0 on Saturday at Alpine, Texas.

Brittanie Gragg scored in the 58th minute for Ozarks (2-5-2, 1-1-0 American Southwest Conference).

Southern Nazarene defeats Harding men

Tommy Fiszel scored on a penalty kick in the 59th minute to give Southern Nazarene (1-6-0, 1-1-0 Great American Conference) a 1-0 victory over Harding on Saturday at Stevens Field in Searcy.

Harding (2-5-1, 1-1-0) had eight shots on goal, including three by Barry Foster. Thomas Shults had five saves for Harding.
