Little Rock, West Memphis added to crime-reduction program

LITTLE ROCK — Two Arkansas cities are joining a federal program aimed at reducing violent crime rates.

The U.S. Department of Justice said Monday that Little Rock and West Memphis are among the new partnering cities in the Violence Reduction Network, along with Compton, Calif; Flint, Mich.; and Newark, N.J.

The five new partners join the inaugural cities of Detroit; Chicago; Camden, N.J.; Wilmington, Del.; and Oakland and Richmond, Calif.

The program uses resources from multiple agencies, such as the FBI and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, to help reduce violence crimes.
