Police: Father charged in connection with Memphis infant's death

MEMPHIS — Authorities say a 19-year-old man has been charged in connection with the death of his 4-month-old daughter.

Multiple media outlets reported that Nathan Scarborough is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the child's death Tuesday.

Police said officers responded to a call at a hospital where the child had been pronounced dead.

Memphis police Sgt. Karen Rudolph said the baby was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. Authorities said the child was in full cardiac arrest.

Rudolph said the medical examiner's office found that the child suffered from apparent internal head injuries. Her death was ruled a homicide.

Scarborough is also charged with aggravated child abuse and aggravated child neglect. He was being held at the Shelby County Jail.

It isn't immediately clear if Scarborough has an attorney.
