2 Conway drivers killed in crash in Faulkner County

The drivers in a two-vehicle accident early Monday on U.S. 65 North in Faulkner County died after one of the drivers lost control of his vehicle, according to an Arkansas State Police report.

Jacob Hynum, 34, of Conway was traveling north on U.S. 65 North at Pickles Gap in his 2005 Chevrolet Silverado about 5:55 a.m. Monday when he crossed the center turning lane and struck 55-year-old Conway resident David Caldwell's southbound vehicle, a 2000 Chevrolet Equinox, state police said.

Hynum and Caldwell were pronounced dead at the scene.

A minor in Hynum's vehicle, whose name and age were not released, suffered injuries in the accident and was taken to a local hospital, according to the report. The minor's condition was unknown as of Tuesday afternoon.

Travel conditions were described as clear and dry in the report.

The deaths were the 380th and 381st in a traffic crash in Arkansas so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
