Jazz series finale

The Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau and the River Market's Jazz in the Park series wraps up at 6 p.m. Wednesday with a performance by Twice Sax in the History Pavilion, Little Rock's Riverfront Park (closest entry point is via Ottenheimer Drive off President Clinton Avenue). Admission is free. There is some seating in the natural stone amphitheater at the pavilion; lawn chairs and blankets are welcome, but no coolers are allowed. Beer (from Lost Forty), wine, soft drinks and water will be for sale, with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit Art Porter Music Education Inc.'s scholarship fund. Fall job fair

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and the Central Arkansas Human Resources Association will bring together job seekers and recruiters in one location on one day for a Fall Job Fair, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. today at the Statehouse Convention Center, Markham and Main streets, Little Rock. Those seeking jobs can schedule mock interviews with human resources professionals starting at 10:30; association representatives will offer resume reviews. There will be two hour-long panel discussions -- "I've applied there and I can't ever get an interview -- what should I do?" at 10:30 a.m. and "I got the interview, but I never heard back from anyone" at 12:30 p.m. Admission is free. Concert honors vets

The Fort Smith Symphony opens its 2015-16 concert season with a concert titled "The Greatest Generation," 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the ArcBest Corp. Performing Arts Center, 55 S. Seventh St., Fort Smith.

The program, which honors U.S. veterans, especially those of World War II, will include the world premiere of Resilience -- Double Concerto for Viola, Cello and Orchestra by Michael Schelle, with soloists Alaina Rea, viola, and Joshua DeVries, cello, and the Symphony No. 3 by Aaron Copland. John Jeter conducts.

Author John C. McManus, Curators' Professor of U.S. military history at the Missouri University of Science and Technology, will give a preconcert lecture titled "Omaha Beach: The Experience of One Division on History's Longest Day" at 6:30 in the concert hall. He will sign copies of his book, The Dead and Those About to Die: D-Day: The Big Red One at Omaha Beach, before and after the lecture, during intermission and after the concert.

Rumors auditions

Fort Smith Little Theatre, 401 N. Sixth St., Fort Smith, will hold open auditions for Neil Simon's Rumors, 7 p.m. Monday and Oct. 25. Director Valerie Baldwin-Valentine will cast five men and five women, 25-55, via cold readings from the script. Production dates are Nov. 12-22. Visit the website, fslt.org.
