Hunting accident fatal for Arkansan

Donald Upton of Siloam Springs was fatally shot in what authorities are calling a hunting accident, according to the Delaware County, Okla., sheriff's office.

The shooting was reported Saturday in a wooded area about 10 miles west of West Siloam Springs, Okla., according to The Associated Press.

Several men were hunting when one shot and killed another, according to a news release from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. An autopsy will be performed and the investigation is ongoing.

Upton, 28, was pronounced dead at the Siloam Springs Regional Hospital, according to the release.

It is dove and squirrel hunting season in Oklahoma, according to the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation.

A Go Fund Me page was set up to assist Upton's family. About $2,190 had been raised toward the $7,000 goal by midafternoon Monday.

"Donnie Upton was a caring, loving, husband, father, son, sibling and friend," according to the website. "Since this loss was unexpected we are trying to raise funds for funeral costs."
