Malvern resident Trent Harmon made it to the final round of three contestants on the last season of "American Idol" Thursday and will find out next week if he wins the competition.

On Thursday's show, Harmon sang Chris Stapleton's "Tennessee Whiskey," Parson James' "Waiting Game," and Justin Timberlake's "Drink You Away." The videos for all three are viewable at left.

On Twitter, Harmon thanked Stapleton and James for "writing songs that I was blessed [to] be able to perform tonight."

"Thank you for allowing me to sing your song, sir," he added in a separate tweet directed to Timberlake. "I hope I did it justice."

The final three singers were asked to perform a piece dedicated to their hometowns, which for Harmon is Amory, Miss. Harmon picked Stapleton's song for that performance.

Harmon told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette in an interview last month that he's settled in Arkansas after graduating from college in Monticello and moving to Malvern to be close to his girlfriend.

"I've got as strong of a connection to Arkansas as I do to Mississippi," he told the paper.

The final two episodes of American Idol will air on April 6 and 7.
